Veterinary services

With some of the most modern equipment available, backed up by a highly qualified team, our customers can be confident that their pets will receive the most up-to-date veterinary treatment available.

We are able to provide any treatment from vaccinations and microchipping, through to complicated orthopaedics, soft tissue and spinal surgery. Here are some examples of the veterinary services we offer:

Full hospitalisation facilities
Sterile theatre
Anaesthesia
Pain relief
X-ray facilities
Orthopaedics and soft tissue surgery
On-site laboratory

Full hospitalisation facilities
Cats and dogs feel much more at ease if they are hospitalised in separate areas, so we have organised our kennels to facilitate this for pets of any size. We aim to keep hospitalisation time as short as possible, but if your pet does need to stay with us, you can be confident that they will be very comfortable and well-monitored.

Sterile theatre
We have a dedicated theatre that is used only for sterile surgical procedures. Theatre staff adhere to strict aseptic principles and wear full sterile suits, masks and caps whilst operating.

Anaesthesia
Many of us will be faced with anaesthetic at some time in our lives, as will our pets. While every anaesthetic or surgical procedure carries some risk, The Pets Practice uses some of the most modern anaesthetic drugs available, so if your pet requires an operation, you can rest assured that it will be performed under the safest circumstances possible.

Pain relief
We place great importance on providing excellent pain-relief (analgesia) to all our patients. Most of the pets requiring surgery will be given pre-emptive pain relief using at least two different drugs ranging from non-steroidal anti-inflammatories through to stronger drugs such as buprenorphine and morphine, if required. These drugs have excellent pain-relieving properties, meaning that your pet's stay will be as comfortable and pain-free as possible.

X-ray facilities
Our x-ray facilities are state-of-the-art, giving us the ability to image and diagnose a wide range of problems such as chest and abdominal problems, broken bones and slipped discs.

Orthopaedics and soft tissue surgery
Mr Haydn Sharratt holds the RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Surgery, which means that at The Pets Practice we are able to perform many orthopaedic and soft tissue procedures that other vet practices are not able to do. Our experience and array of surgical equipment means we are able to perform procedures such as speying and complicated repairs of broken bones.

On-site laboratory
While we make extensive use of specialists at outside laboratories, our own on-site laboratory means that we are able to perform a large array of blood tests at the surgery. We can run a full set of blood tests in less than 15 minutes, meaning that many diagnoses can be made almost immediately if necessary. We also perform urine tests and diagnose ear infections, bladder stones, urine infections and skin mites under our microscope.
