Meet the team
Haydn
Sharratt
BVSc CertSAS MRCVS
I grew up on a sheep farm in South Africa and moved to the UK soon
after qualifying in 1994. After travelling the world for a few years
I settled in London, left Large Animal Practice behind and have worked
exclusively in Small Animal Practice ever since. I started specialising
in 1996 and in 1999 achieved the RCVS Certificate in Small Animal
Surgery. Since then I've continued to work in and around London doing
both first opinion and second opinion/referral Orthopaedics and Soft
Tissue Surgery.
I still think of becoming a pro golfer, rugby player or cricketer
but the dream remains just that. My luck started to improve when
I married Astrid and things recently got even better when our beautiful
daughter Grace arrived in December 2006. The two cats, Tigger and
Toby, are gradually getting used to our new addition, although my
rapidly deteriorating handicap shows little sign of improvement!
Gill
Tose,
BVetMed, MRSCVS
After qualifying from the Royal Veterinary College, London, I worked
for one year in a specialist surgery and dermatology practice in
Newcastle, my home town. I then made the move back to the south to
take a position in a busy small animal practice in Berkshire where
I have worked for the last 9 years. I have also provided locum cover
for the major critical care practice in the UK where I have dealt
with a wide range of trauma, medical and surgical cases. I have developed
a keen interest in medicine, particularly cardiology, critical care,
geriatrics and rabbits, and am currently completing my RCVS Certificate
in Cardiology. I am keen to work with Pets 24 to provide the best
possible care and support to our clients and their pets.
I have managed to collect an assortment of animals in my 10 years
in practice , currently 4 cats, 2 rabbits and 3 horses, all of whom
are very special to me! I love the great outdoors, travelling and
sport, and am currently training for the London Triathlon. I also
hope to offer my services to veterinary charities at home and abroad
to try to improve the lives of wild, feral, pet and working animals.
Gary Nowell,
MRSCVS
After training at Edinburgh University I began my career in mixed
Practice, where I ran my own Yorkshire based Practice. In 1996 I
sold the Practice and specialised in small animal Emergency & Critical
care Practice. Since this time I have worked almost exclusively in
A & E small animal Practice. I joined The Pets Practice & Pets-24
in July 2008 where I am finding the challenge of Accident & Emergency
work very enjoyable.
Out of work I have 3 Labradors and 2 cats, who
I find great relaxation.
Danielle
Tuffey, VN
Head Nurse
Hi I’m Danielle, Head Nurse at The Pet’s Practice.
I live in Bedfont, Middlesex and have been nursing for eight years.
I qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2002. I started my training
at a practice in Teddington and then moved to Egham where I first
worked with Haydn. During this time I worked extensively with a
specialist veterinary dentist, fuelling an interest in this field
that has continued since I joined The Pets Practice in the summer
of 2002.
I also have an interest in exotic pets, hence owning my 15 year
old Amazon parrot called Eric! I also own three very spoilt cats
called Missy, Smudge and Mink!
In my spare time I enjoy shopping, socialising and swimming!
Lottie
Newman-Smith , VN
Veterinary Nurse
Hi, I'm Lottie. I qualified in 1996 and completed my training at
the RVC Queen Mother Hospital in Potters Bar. Since then I've worked
in both Equine and Small Animal Practice. Prior to joining The Pets
Practice I was worked at an Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Central
London as an Emergency Veterinary Nurse. Here I developed a keen
interest in Emergency and Critical Care Nursing.
I especially enjoy wound management and nursing exotics. At home
in Sussex my parents own a smallholding and this is where I keep
my horse and miniature pot-bellied
pig called Wilma. I also have a badly behaved cocker spaniel called
Charlie. I enjoy most sports especially netball, horse riding and
ice skating. I also like retail therapy, going to the theatre and
chocolate!
Wendy
Osborne, VN
Veterinary Nurse
Hi, my name is Wendy. I qualified as a veterinary nurse in 1999,
I started my training at a busy veterinary hospital in Worthing,
West Sussex, then moved to a smaller clinic in Haywards Heath, West
Sussex where I live.
After qualifying I went to work as an emergency and critical care
veterinary nurse at the Elizabeth Street Emergency Clinic in Belgravia,
London. During my time there, I developed my skills dealing with
all sorts of emergencies which happen out of hours. I discovered
that this was the side to veterinary nursing that I enjoyed the most
and came to work for Haydn in December 2006. As well as being part
of the team here at The Pets Practice, I am also one of the emergency
nurses working out of hours in Haydn’a new venture Pets24 – an
emergency clinic for out of hours veterinary emergencies.
In my spare time I am enjoy ice skating and going to the gym but
my main passion is dog training. I have 3 dogs Ziggy, Hattie and
Sparky. I train and compete with them in dog agility. Ziggy is now
13 and had to retire last year. I also have two cats – Tizz
and Tazz.
Natasha
Sheehan
Client Care Manager
Hi my name is Natasha. I live in Hayes, Middlesex. I joined The
Pets Practice as the friendly receptionist in June 2006. I had absolutely
no previous veterinary experience, so everything was new and exciting.
I am really enjoying working here with Haydn and the girls!
I am Irish and come from the sunny south-east from a tiny village
called Tallow, Co. Waterford. I moved over to London in January 2006
to be with my fiance who i am marrying in August this year! His extended
family are all from my town so we have known each other a very long
time.
I have a dog back home in the green isle called Mr President, who
is completely spoiled and loves to lie on his back to have his belly
rubbed all day! My main interest is clothes shopping, but I also
love the movies and Patricia Cornwell books. I also love football
and am a serious Manchester United fan - not good when you live in
London! I plan to join the gym and get fit at some stage.
Pauline
Jarvis
Client Services Manager
Pauline started at the Pets Practice recently - her notes will be
here soon!
