Vaccinations

Annual booster vaccinations are an extremely important part of your dog’s preventative healthcare and The Pets Practice recommends that all dogs are vaccinated against parvovirus, distemper, infectious canine hepatitis, parainfluenza, leptospirosis and kennel cough.

Your dog’s vaccination protocol will follow a three year cycle, with different vaccines being given at different intervals, but vaccines against parainfluenza, leptospirosis and kennel cough are given annually.

We do not regard your dog’s annual visit to us as a quick injection, but use it as an opportunity for a full clinical examination to make sure they are as healthy as possible. Your dog’s annual health examination and booster vaccination check will include a consultation with:

A Veterinary Nurse

The nurse will weigh your pet and discuss any issues relating to diet and weight that may be relevant. A dental examination will be performed to discuss any issues relating to dental health. They will check your dog’s microchip, clip his/her nails if necessary and also discuss a number of other important issues relating to their health. Remember to ask about our Pet Health Plans and avoid paying for their booster on the day.

After the nurse has finished examining your dog, the next consultation is with:

A Veterinary Surgeon

Once your consultation with the Veterinary Nurse is complete, the duty Vet will perform a full clinical examination of your dog and discuss any relevant findings with you.
